Christmas is (nearly) here

Posted by Bakers Delight at November 25, 2011 in Real people

For the chance to win a dozen Christmas tarts to be delivered to your home in the lead up to Christmas, simply leave a comment on our blog by Wednesday 14 December

I walked into my local shopping centre last week and was a little excited to see Christmas decorations. Bon-bon’s, tinsel , I even heard Christmas carols. It is now a month away from Christmas Day and I had hardly thought that far ahead yet. It struck me, it’s going to be a good, busy time to look forward to and I’m excited for all the Christmas treats.

Our bakeries are starting to get into the swing of Christmas with decorations out in full force. I know that the bakeries will be freshly baking a stack of block loaves and rolls for up coming BBQ’s, and not to mention catering for the Christmas festivities with freshly baked bread sticks and Turkish bread for dips and nibblies. They are also baking a variety of gourmet Christmas treats; Fruit Mince Tarts and Lemon Tarts and for the first time ever, Traditional Christmas Cakes. To me, this signifies that Christmas is almost here and the exciting lead up period has begun.

The start of December is my favourite time. The fact that you and friends always seem to have some sense of urgency to catch up before the end of the year, the warm weather, the break from work and most importantly; spending quality time with loved ones.

Santa doesn’t play as much a role in my life now, but I know that I still have to pull my weight and buy special gifts for my nieces and nephews. Fortunately this doesn’t generally take too long as anything electronic normally gets them extremely excited. The thing I enjoy most about this time of year is knowing that Christmas is around the corner.

Sun, food, drinks and being in the company of friends seems to be more frequent in the lead up to Christmas Day and I can’t wait.

My local Bakers Delight bakery can expect to see more of me over the coming weeks as I will be counting on them for all of my Christmas season entreating food. Everything I need for the perfect Christmas lunch or get-together is there; Turkish Bread for dips, block loaves for the snags, rolls for burgers  and even cakes and tarts for dessert.

We want to know, when do you start feeling Christmassy?

Nothing says ‘Christmas’ more than the spicy, heady smells of Christmas Tarts fresh and hot from the oven.
Pass by any Bakers Delight store and you want to ask them to decant the perfume for sale!
I may not eat much dessert, but custard and Christmas Tarts are always on the Yuletide Menu!

  • KJ Blunt says:

The only problem with all the decorations and stuff going on now is that Christmas comes and then it’s gone. There is no time to savor things after Christmas day. It’s like ok, been there done that, what’s next. The 12 days of Christmas are gone before they even happen.

  • Colleen Read says:

I have started to feel Christmassy today!! The school holidays have begun for us today,we poured through the catalogues last night and the kids did their santa list then as well. Our house is known as the Christmas house and my husband is in a mad panic to get the outside light etc up as everyone is telling us they are coming for a look. Each year he says he may not do it this year. But each year he gets in a mad sudden flap to get it all done at the last minute with a different theme each year.
I have just bought insect spray as all the boxes of decorations, lights etc are being opened in the garage with the visting spiders that decide to crawl out of the boxes!!! Every Christmas is the same and i wouldn’t have it any other way! Oh and i also fight my addiction to the Bakers Delight Fruit mince pies every year as well. Merry Christmas Everyone!!!
