Spring time sandwiches

Posted by Orry at September 1, 2011 in Healthy eating

What is your favourite healthy sandwich idea? Leave your recipe for your favourite healthy sandwich by 5pm Wednesday 20 September for a chance to win a week’s worth of Hi-Fibre Lo-GI vouchers!

It is the first day of Spring and the weather is warming up. We are all keen to shake of the winter blues and look forward to lunches in the sun and enjoying nibbles in the park.

Slowly, most of us will move away from toasted cheese sandwiches and look forward to healthy sandwich ideas in preparation for the Summer beach fun. Ham, cheese and tomato will be replaced with lettuce, cucumber and carrot.

However like most, as much as I try and eat grainy loaves everyday, I do love my white bread. Sometimes the simple pleasure of butter on fresh white bread is too hard to resist.

Luckily at Bakers Delight, we offer a white loaf that is high in fibre and also low in GI. Our Hi-Fibre Lo-GI Block Loaf (I know our marketing team could be a little more creative with naming our products) offers the great taste of white bread, but provides the benefits of everyday grainy loaves.

Our ‘Hi-Lo’ is in fact the only freshly baked white loaf of its kind in the market. This means you and your kids can enjoy the great taste of white bread and still enjoy the benefits of 8.3g of fibre per 100grams- the highest content of any white bread in Australia!

This means that with all the spring birthday parties coming up, the fairy bread can be a touch more healthy when enjoyed by the swarm of party goers- they won’t suspect a thing.

It’s not just the kids that can benefit from the added goodness of Hi-Lo, but your BBQ guests can also join in. Most will take the cover off the BBQ in upcoming weeks. But as we all know, a snag from the BBQ is only as good as the bread it rests on and the quality of sauce it is doused in. As the bread it is low GI, your guests will feel fuller for longer and will appreciate the energy it provides.

We want to know, with spring in the air, what are some sandwich ideas you will start coming back to after the cold months of winter are now done. We also want to know, do you also simply enjoy butter with white bread?

I must say that a beautiful grain bread towering with some
    Swiss cheese,

We eat it with cheese, tomato, pepper (event he kids!) and a silverbeet leaf from the garden.
