Home made pizzas

Posted by Orry at June 30, 2011 in Real people

Leave a comment on this blog for a chance to win a two pack of freshly baked pizza bases as well as a week’s worth of bread vouchers by 5.00pm Friday 15 July 2011.

There is little doubt that Masterchef has captured our attentions and tastebuds alike.

From robust dinners, to delicate deserts, the show has got everyone thinking about home cooked meals.

For those fans of the show, they may have seen contestants recently making all sorts of pizza bases. From low carb to vegan, the red and blue teams battled it out to create a tasty pizza for the judges.

For those who watched, the pizza bases created great headaches for the contestant. Lucky we have created a freshly baked, preservative free base that will mean that all you need to worry about is what you will place on your pizza.

Pizza Base

Home made pizzas are something that really allow anyone to express their creative flare at home. Everyone seems to have their own signature home made pizza. From the classics, such as ham, cheese and pineapple to the more unique toppings like blue cheese, rocket and duck, all households have their own twist on their pizza masterpieces. My personal favourite is salami, feta, capsicum with a sprinkle of fresh basil leafs.

Now that winter has firmly dug in its heels, the desire to enjoy a heart-warming meal with family and friends in the comfort of your own home is stronger than ever. And what a better way to enjoy their company than by creating your own pizzas together?
Our bakers are even getting into the act and making their own creations.

Pizza Toppings

Currently we are running a competition to find the best home made pizza on our FACEBOOK page. We are asking customers to upload an image of their home made creations for a chance to win $5,000 or one of four home made pizza ovens.

So we are looking for budding pizza chefs to show us what they’ve got. Upload your pizza so we can see what you put on your home made ‘delight’. We will also highlight the best pizza recipe on our public website.

Who makes your favourite pizza and why?

I believe that I am the best pizza maker in this castle! Ever since traveling to America I have become obsessed with perfecting a home made New York pizza, i miss the taste and style so much, I think I may actually be getting somewhere with it. What could be so tough about making a simple cheese pizza on a hand stretched base! Don’t be fooled, it ain’t easy!!

  • Joanne Hughes says:

I am the one who makes the best pizzas in my house because I am the ONLY one who does all of the feeding around here! And the shopping, and the housework etc etc etc

  • olivia says:

my husband!! but he does work for pizza hut, so he has an unfair advantage

  • Danise says:

I would have to say I make the best pizza in the house. Haven’t been game enough to let the 2 and 3 year old loose in the kitchen for obvious reasons and not really sure that I want the dogs to prepare our food :)

  • christina lungo says:

Both my parents make the best pizza, they are Italian and let’s face it – Italians make the best Pizzas :)

  • Thyri says:

I make the best pizza’s in our house, because I was taught by a lovely old Nonna! Made with love and fresh ingredients just like in the old country!

  • Narelle Rock says:

that would have to be me of course! only use fresh ingredients, mix it up a bit with some fetta, onion, capsicum and roasted sweet potato, topped off with a good quality cheese, yummy and healthy!

  • Brendan Rock says:

my kids do, watching the smiles on their faces as they create their own personal masterpieces, it’s perfection and they love it when we all try the pizza they have made!

  • Anna says:

Although he makes some classic recipes Hubby is not content with the status quo and makes the most exotic pizza’s. Sometimes they taste amazing (and sometimes not so amazing!) Taco pizzas, pasta pizzas, Chicken Caesar Salad pizzas and peking duck pizza!

Along with Ice cream pizzas or gingerbread pizzas for dessert…

Variety is the spice of life I say!

  • Melissa says:

I make the best pizza, Roast pumpkin, capcicum and spinach with crumbled fetta ontop so yummy and great on a cold night in front of the fire.

  • Jodie says:

My husband and I make the best pizzas. Homemade bases with whatever ingredients we feel like on the night!

  • Linda McNally says:

My daughter makes the best pizzas in our house. She places the chicken, pineapple, mushrooms, tomatoes & cheese so carefully on the pizza base. Its all evenly spaced out. She spreads the tomato paste out evenly to just like she was painting a picture. She said if it looks good it will taste even better. It has to look inviting if not you wont eat it. She is 17yrs old. I love her to bits & she DOES make the pizzaas better then I ever will.

  • Katrina oconnor says:

i just love making pizzas for my family as you can have all your favorite fresh ingredients and really enjoy every bite as we BBQ chicken thigh fillets and then slice them up and they are mouthwatering tender and moist and place them on a pizza with cashew nuts, snow peas, bacon, garlic and mozzarella cheese and we actually cook them in the BBQ for that extra flavor.

  • Jeff says:

Must enter this to get a pizza the action!

  • Roisin says:

My husband Carl, makes the best …. he makes the dough from scratch the sauce from scratch, great fresh ingredients and they always taste great, hot or cold! My fav is Pancetta, Fetta and Rosemary, but he also makes a great Salami, Mushroom and Capsicum ….. And our little 2 year old now loves to help daddy make them too! We all look forward to pizza night! I’m such a lucky girl :o )

  • julie says:

i make the best pizzas because no one else does. I do like using jamie olivers recipe as well.

  • Joanne Sharrad says:

We don’t make our pizzas at home because we can’t find any nice bases. I am not good at making my own.

  • Katherine says:

Its a team effort with the kids! I have my secrect ingrediants of course, but the best part is putting on the music, having fun, getting veggies like spinach and sweet pototo into the kids, and using up left overs, yum yum yum, Will never go back, just need to try my toppings on your bases!

  • Gaye Clark says:

My kids make the best pizza in our house as no matter what each bite has heaps of flavour due to their slap-dash pizza making style!!

  • Karls says:

I make the best pizzas in my home of course. My pizzas are always full of flavour with a crispy base, which is created by adding a thin layer of olive oil to the tray before placing the pizza base on top, then cooking in the oven.

  • aaron says:

Best pizza using bakers delight bases is as follows:-
    \
roasted caps, roasted eggplant roasted sweet potatos, spanish onion, mushrooms, swiss cheese avocado – yum yum

  • Bron says:

I’m the Chief Pizza Maker in our house and I usually use Mountain bread for a light crispy base but tonight we’re trying the new Bakers Delight pizza bases! I make a Hawaiian/Aussie combo for the kids: pizza paste, slices of ham, pineapple chunks, lightly beaten egg, topped with pizza cheese. Me, I like a more sophisticated pizza with roast chicken, chopped capsicum & mushrooms, sliced olives, topped with pizza cheese – the more gourmet, the better!

  • Melinda says:

We love Brekky on a Pizza. Fry onion & bacon. Scatter on a Baker’s Delight pizza base along with steamed spinach & pizza cheese. Whisk 3 eggs and pour over. Bake until egg is set and base is crispy. Yum!

  • angela says:

Interesting that I can plan out a whole week of pizzas but integrate differently daily. Breakfast one day, dessert the other! So many options and doors open that I hadn’t thought of before. Thanks bakersdelight for the idea!

  • teresa says:

Looks delicious, you guys just got my taste buds flowing.

  • Joanne Purnell says:

There is nothing better than homemade pizzas, everyone creates their own masterpiece and very little washing up!

  • Liz says:

I definitely make the best pizzas in the house! My favourite flavour at the moment is a chicken and avocado pizza – a little different but definitely delicious! I mash some avocado in a bowl with some pepper and lemon. Then, on top of a Baker’s Delight pizza base I add a homemade tomato base, some garlic, strips of marinated chicken, olives, sundried tomatoes and lots of mozzarella cheese! After baking for about 15 minutes, I take it out and spoon out some avocado to put on top, as well as some fresh Italian herbs like basil! So much yummier and healthier to make it at home than to order take-away chain store pizza!

  • felicity says:

i believe i make the best pizza! i put so much love into my own dough and use what i can find in the fridge and oregano is always a winner!

  • kerrianne says:

My 18 year old daughter is THE best pizza maker in our house (actually she makes the best everything…she’s a great cook). She uses fresh & tasty ingredients such as baby spinach and cream cheese which just melts in your mouth and is so creamy! She has even made her own pizza bases from scratch!

  • DD says:

Me. Why? I make the dough from scratch, by hand, the old fashioned way (no bread maker machine here) & use all my own home grown herbs and tomato paste from home grown tomato’s. They can’t be beaten.

  • Diana says:

The local pizza shop USED to, then they were taken over by Asians. Asians don’t do pizza to greatness, but the old Italians did & I miss them. Their pizza’s were like manna from heaven.

  • Ernie says:

My wife. Admittedly she buys your bases (but shhhh we don’t let on we know, and let her pass them off as her own), and her toppings are so tasty, they should be illegal.

  • Christine says:

My husband makes the best pizza’s only if i gather the ingredients, chop and slice them up and turn the oven on.

  • cheryl haining says:

My 5 grandkids, they love creating their favorite pizza while ‘decorating’ my kitchen in tomato passata

  • Marg says:

My Mamma Mia, she’s from Rome,
Bakes her pizzas here at home.

    We applaud with standing ovation,
    Her superb pizza creations.

    Authentically Italian, a family winner,
Even Pavarotti would sing for this dinner.

Venice may sink and towers lean,
    But her pizzas reign supreme.

    Authentic ingredients combine to impress,
This is the secret of her success.

    An unsur’pasta’ble ‘sauce’ of satisfaction,
A de’lira’ious ‘Pisa’ Italy with careful preparation.

    Mmmmmmmmmmmmm! A-Rome-a therapy!

  • Karina says:

I don’t mind eating frozen pizzas. They have a unique taste.

  • Jennifer Bush says:

Is there anything better than Bakers Delight Capeseed bread?
Why, YES!… My children making their own meals with Bakers Delight’s pizza bases!!! :)

  • My other half makes the best pizza as he is very generous with the toppings. He is Italian but I don’t know if that makes a difference as he adds pineapple to his side of the pizza which is not very Italian!

  • Carol says:

i make fresh Pizza every Saturday, for my Saturday night treat,i make the base, the sauce, and use all fresh ingredient’s,i usually make 3 large Pizza’s and freeze them for later,to give to my Daughter also,i would be very interested in trying Baker’s Delight Pizza Bases, just to compare them with the ones i make,i don’t buy Bread these day’s as i make my own,i am very allergic to a lot of the Preservatives that are put in mass produced Bread,i have bought Baker’s Delight Bread awhile ago,as i know their are no nasties in there delicious product’s,this is a great competition,as i’m getting great idea’s from other comment’s,many thank’s Baker’s Delight ! Me – because if I am making it I make it the way I like! All my favourite toppings and never the need to pick anything off!

  • Jacky says:

Even if I say so myself I make a great pizza, the secret is in the balance of the wet and dry ingredients along with exact timing for cooking.

  • Sophia Blake says:

The kids make the best pizza and its a great wintery holiday activity.

Just give them a Bakers Delight pizza base and they do the rest.

Its amazing the interesting combinations they come up with.

    Love it !

  • My crazy food obsessed partner Enzo makes an awsome pizza. Being a true Italian he sticks to the best of the basics and thinly sliced potato with rosemary or proscuitto with rocket are household favourites. The kids will happily devour an entire pizza each! We cook pizza with great sucess on a pizza stone on our webber.

  • Sonya says:

My 3-yr-old daughter makes the best pizza – cheese, olives and tomato paste – and once she even added chocolate chips when I wasn’t looking!!!
