Pink Bun campaign
Posted by Orry at April 28, 2011 in In the community
You may have noticed something a little different in our bakeries today… it is that time of year when our bakeries turn pink for Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Bakers Delight and BCNA have now enjoyed a partnership of 11 years. In this time, Bakers Delight has managed to raise over $4.5million for BCNA.
Each year our bakeries host the Pink Bun campaign. From Thursday 28 April to Wednesday 18 May, our bakeries donate 100% of every Pink Bun sold to BCNA. This year, we have set our sights high, we want to raise $1million.
Throughout each campaign, our bakeries are extremely fortunate to learn of inspirational stories of women and their families affected by breast cancer.
One survivor, Vivienne Harkness, has a special connection with BCNA.
Over 5 years ago, Vivienne started helping out BCNA as a volunteer in their head office in Camberwell. In 2009, Vivienne trained to become a Community Liaison for BCNA. In her role she now shares her personal breast cancer story to help others.
Every year, when we hold our Pink Bun campaign, Vivienne supports numerous bakeries in her local area by heading in-store and talking to customers.
Below is a short interview we had with Vivienne. We discussed what BCNA means to her and why the Pink Bun campaign is so important to BCNA.
Our bakeries are truly honoured to be involved with BCNA and each year, staff go all out to pink up their bakery to raise awareness and to sell as many buns possible.
We encourage you to head into a bakery in the next three weeks and either buy a Pink Bun or a silhouette to show your support.
If you have had an experience with the Bakers Delight Pink Bun campaign, we’d love you to share it with us.

I do appreciate and support Breast Cancer awareness wherever possible but could you perhaps next time cook some ………. say unsweetened Cranberry (for the pink bits) in your buns instead of slathering the tops with gooey sugary icing? Us diabetics would be so thankful.
Hi Fay,
Thanks for the suggestion and something we have passed on. If the buns aren’t for you, i would recommending purchaing a pink silhouette to help support.
Thanks,
I really don’t want to “rain on your parade” –with regard to the Pink Buns as that is a worthy and noble cause BUT I do hope that Bakers Delight will do something similar around Fathers Day and donote the money to combat prostate cancer
Which of course kills as many men as breast cancer kills woman and gets about 10% of the attention –which includes fund raising
Just a thought
Kind Regards
Stephen Murray
Hi Stephen,
Thanks for contacting us and providing your suggestion. We have been partners with BCNA for 11years and the relationship between BCNA and Bakers is something that we are extremely proud of! The BCNA office is actually in housed in our building. We try and support them as much as possible and for that reason we focus our efforts in assisting them.
Thanks,
