‘Bundraising’ this Easter

Posted by Orry at March 28, 2011 in In the community

Simply leave a comment on this blog post, before 5.00pm on Monday 18th April to be in with a chance of winning a FREE 6 pack of Hot Cross Buns before Easter. Don’t forget to include your full name and contact email so we can let you know if you are a winner!

For most of us, Easter involves a whole lot of chocolate, hot cross buns and – my personal favourite – the longest long weekend of the working year. Here at Bakers Delight, we have hot cross bun fanatics asking when they can buy buns as early as the first week in January, so it’s no surprise that Easter is our busiest time of the year, or that hot cross buns are high on our agenda during this period.

However there’s another meaning behind Easter that all of us at Bakers Delight hold close to our hearts. Every year, our bakers hand craft millions of hot cross buns, but it’s not just for our loyal customers – it’s also because we’re aiming to really make a difference to sick children.

On Saturday April 9, a day we call ‘Bundraiser Day’,  more than 630 Bakers Delight bakeries across Australia and New Zealand will aim to hand craft over 520,000 freshly baked hot cross buns, with $1 from every six-pack sold donated towards the local children’s hospital in each state.

This year we’re hoping to surpass last year’s Bundraiser fundraising efforts, with the aim of raising over $128,000. These funds will go towards purchasing essential medical equipment that cover a range of treatments, from helping children with severe breathing disorders and hearing difficulties, to assisting with rehabilitation therapies and air ambulance services – for us, Easter is really all about supporting sick kids.

So there you have it – we’ve spent 31 years hand crafting our hot cross buns with real care, but over recent years it’s been just as much about making a difference as it’s been perfecting our hot cross buns. We’d love it if you could make your hot cross bun craving count this Easter, and visit a Bakers Delight bakery on ‘Bundraiser’ Day.

To celebrate Easter, we’re offering our customers the chance to win a six-pack of our delicious hot cross buns, because let’s face it, our fresh baked hot cross buns are hard to pass up. Simply tell us which Bakers Delight hot cross bun you love the most and why – Traditional, Choc Chip, Mocha or Fruitless? The best answers will be featured on the Bakers Delight Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/bakersdelight) and also on Twitter (@bakersdelight).

Im not a fan of the Mocha hot cross buns at all (and yet I love Mocha drinks!). In this case, traditional hot cross buns are by far the best- especially toasted. Yum! Yum!

  • Sarah Barnes says:

It has to be, without a doubt, CHOC CHIP.

Our house like the fruitless ones. (I personally like all of them) but when you have kids who have a variety of tastes this is easier. Hot Cross buns are an all time favourite in our house and the family can all tell if I get them from Bakers Delight or if i go to the supermarket and buy them.
The ones from Bakers always go where as the supermarket ones sit there till I toss them out.
So now I know only to buy them from Bakers Delight.

  • Leanne says:

    Have to be Choc Chip
    they he ones for me

    with oozing margarine

    My mouth waters
    as easter nears
    knowing full well
    for years and years
i love baker’s delight for real.

The reason i love the Choc Chip ones is because its easter and nothing goes better with chocolate then chocolate chip, also i find that they have not got the doughy taste as some others may have.

    Leanne Whittaker

  • Traditional Hot Cross Buns are my favourite. They bring back memories of lining up at the local bakery at 6am Good Fridays when we were kids, waiting for the freshly baked buns to come out of the oven, the smell of baking wafting over the whole neighbourhood. Nothing like the flavour of traditional freshly baked hot cross buns straight from the ovens where they are made.
