‘Bundraising’ this Easter
Posted by Orry at March 28, 2011 in In the community
Simply leave a comment on this blog post, before 5.00pm on Monday 18th April to be in with a chance of winning a FREE 6 pack of Hot Cross Buns before Easter. Don’t forget to include your full name and contact email so we can let you know if you are a winner!
For most of us, Easter involves a whole lot of chocolate, hot cross buns and – my personal favourite – the longest long weekend of the working year. Here at Bakers Delight, we have hot cross bun fanatics asking when they can buy buns as early as the first week in January, so it’s no surprise that Easter is our busiest time of the year, or that hot cross buns are high on our agenda during this period.
However there’s another meaning behind Easter that all of us at Bakers Delight hold close to our hearts. Every year, our bakers hand craft millions of hot cross buns, but it’s not just for our loyal customers – it’s also because we’re aiming to really make a difference to sick children.
On Saturday April 9, a day we call ‘Bundraiser Day’, more than 630 Bakers Delight bakeries across Australia and New Zealand will aim to hand craft over 520,000 freshly baked hot cross buns, with $1 from every six-pack sold donated towards the local children’s hospital in each state.
This year we’re hoping to surpass last year’s Bundraiser fundraising efforts, with the aim of raising over $128,000. These funds will go towards purchasing essential medical equipment that cover a range of treatments, from helping children with severe breathing disorders and hearing difficulties, to assisting with rehabilitation therapies and air ambulance services – for us, Easter is really all about supporting sick kids.
So there you have it – we’ve spent 31 years hand crafting our hot cross buns with real care, but over recent years it’s been just as much about making a difference as it’s been perfecting our hot cross buns. We’d love it if you could make your hot cross bun craving count this Easter, and visit a Bakers Delight bakery on ‘Bundraiser’ Day.
To celebrate Easter, we’re offering our customers the chance to win a six-pack of our delicious hot cross buns, because let’s face it, our fresh baked hot cross buns are hard to pass up. Simply tell us which Bakers Delight hot cross bun you love the most and why – Traditional, Choc Chip, Mocha or Fruitless? The best answers will be featured on the Bakers Delight Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/bakersdelight) and also on Twitter (@bakersdelight).

I love the Mocha ones – they are especially nice with lovely coffee and butter.
LOVE the Mocha …
I love Bakers delight Hot cross buns, also there Apple Custard Scrolls, Nothing better then a cuppa with a Bun or a Scroll. The buns I can get the Scrolls alas, non stores in NthWest Melbourne make them
Hi! I absolutely adore bakers delight hot cross buns. They are scrummy and a great snack anytime, day or night!
you are always so community minded – what a wonderful organisation you are!!!! Oh – and the bread tastes good too!
choc chip hot cross buns all the way!!!!
Im not a fan of the Mocha hot cross buns at all (and yet I love Mocha drinks!). In this case, traditional hot cross buns are by far the best- especially toasted. Yum! Yum!
It has to be, without a doubt, CHOC CHIP.
Why??
Well anything that has chocolate in has to be divine doesn’t it?
You can’t beat the original fruit flavour hot cross bun….yummo
with lots of butter smothered on it.
choc chip is my favourite, any excuse for extra chocolate in my diet
Our house like the fruitless ones. (I personally like all of them) but when you have kids who have a variety of tastes this is easier. One doesnt like fruit, one has to be careful with chocolate due to his peanut allergy and the other 2 will eat anything. Buying the plain fruitless ones mean everyone wins
I love the traditional, because they are very delicious and remind me of being a kid and the excitement of the season…take me back when I smell them heating in the oven
Hot Cross buns are an all time favourite in our house and the family can all tell if I get them from Bakers Delight or if i go to the supermarket and buy them.
The ones from Bakers always go where as the supermarket ones sit there till I toss them out.
So now I know only to buy them from Bakers Delight.
what a great idea for the bunraiser, i will definately be purchasing some to help this cause.
I like Choc-Chip hot cross buns, warm with margarine and sprinkles. It has always been a special treat, right from when I was little.
Traditional, fruity goodness warm and toasty
bursts of flavour that taste so yummy
My favourite hot cross bun is the traditional. They are so delicious when hot and with butter dripping off them.
chocolate hot cross buns all the way
I like traditional the best, They are the best i have ever eaten. Always fresh with plenty of friut. I would eat them all year round.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the chocolate chip hot cross buns. Love the way the chocolate melts and goes all gooey when you bite into it!!
The Choc Chip hot cross buns are the best by far! absolutely amazing and tasty and perfect in everyway!
i love the traditional – reminds me of camping at Easter as a kid with mums home made hot cross buns for brekkie Easter Sunday….YUMMO!!
I like the chic chip hot cross bun the most because it’s become the new tradition at my house at easter. They go as quickly as mum gets them in the kitchen! I love how u heat them in the microwave and the choc starts to get gooey and warm, lather it with butter or marge and it’s simply heaven!
I’m cutting down on the naughtiness but still get my treat with the Fruitless Hot Cross Buns
I love traditional flavour, they remnd me of the ones I learned to cook many years ago at school
Traditional Hot Cross Buns are always the way to go……………. Simple but always a special Easter Treat!
The Mocha!!! I love choc n coffee together and it just takes the “ho hum” out of the same old hot cross buns we get inundated with each year.
LOVE LOVE LOVE CHOC CHIP HOT CROSS BUNS – SPECTACULAR!
Haha great name!
http://bit.ly/eZcQOQ
Love love love the traditional ones but, if i win i’d love to share them with my husband who doesn’t like them, so i’d have to change my answer to the choc chip ones
I’m sure i’ll cope!!!!
i like the choc chip bakers delight hot cross bun most as there have a lot of choc chip in it… Soft and delicious!!!!!!! Yum yum yummy…..
Traditional are the best. Look forward every Easter to the Easter buns from Bakers Delight. They are delicious fresh and toasted.
Mmmmm choc-chip hot cross buns warmed in the oven and then smeared with peanut butter. My wasteline is thankful Easter only comes once a year! BUT ITS SOOOO WORTH IT!
My favourite is definately Traditional. It’s my favourite part of our Easter celebration and it nearly kiils me to
wait until Easter Sunday to have them but the wait is so worth it.
There is nothing better in this world then waking up on Good Friday to the smell of freshly toasted traditional hot cross buns wafting though the house. Split them in half and let the steam waft over you, smother with butter and float away to a higher level of happiness…. Yumm.
Have to be Choc Chip
they he ones for me
cut in half and heated up
with oozing margarine
My mouth waters
as easter nears
knowing full well
for years and years
i love baker’s delight for real.
The reason i love the Choc Chip ones is because its easter and nothing goes better with chocolate then chocolate chip, also i find that they have not got the doughy taste as some others may have.

Traditional Hot Cross Buns are my favourite. They bring back memories of lining up at the local bakery at 6am Good Fridays when we were kids, waiting for the freshly baked buns to come out of the oven, the smell of baking wafting over the whole neighbourhood. Nothing like the flavour of traditional freshly baked hot cross buns straight from the ovens where they are made.
I must visit out local Bakers Delight every Saturday to pick up a six pack or two of your hot cross buns! We love them for morning tea with a nice cuppa, great way to enjoy the start of the weekend!
Traditional Hot cross buns… just out of the oven with real butter…yum
Traditional
I love the traditional buns as I am old fashioned gal.
The best, most delectably delicious, hot cross buns are the tasty Traditional Hot Cross Buns.
Hot from the oven, they are crunchy on the outside, split them in half & smother in butter relax and enjoy, YUM.
Mocha!!! Anything with coffee and chocolate can’t be wrong
Traditional are the best. Although I don’t like them being available in the shops too early. I think they are best saved for at least a couple of weeks before Easter.
they say taste and smell are the strongest memory recall agents.. that is why I love TRADITIONAL
oops…. hit return…. as I was saying…. I love Traditional, as it takes me back to the memories of my childhood and all the traditions that Easter bought my way
I LOVE the fruitless hot x buns as do my children. Toasted or warmed in the oven and covered with lashings of butter with a creamy hot chocolate. YUM thanks Bakers Delight!
I’m a traditional hot x buns kind of girl – nothing better than starting Easter Sunday with a freshly toasted Bakers Delight fruit hot x bun topped with butter (the real kind not that margerine crap) and a nice cup of tea – gets me in a great mood to enjoy the rest of the day
I like traditional as have tried other choc chip ones and they don’t taste as nice in my opinion..
Traditional are the go………………. nice n fresh with a cuppa tea……….. The Runaway Bay shop is the best, super friendly and super fast Well done Bakers Delight
Mocha rules
Traditional are my favourite. You can’t beat the delicious taste of a warm, toasted Bakers Delight hot cross bun with melted butter dripping off. Add a cup of coffee and I’m in heaven!
I love the traditional fruit buns ………why play around with perfection ?
I’m a big fan of the choc chip hot cross buns, chocolate always seems to get the better of me
I have a terrible weakness where chocolate is concerned. I just can’t walk past the Choc Chip Hot Cross Buns.
Simply said – delicious
Quite delectable
Original Hot Cross Buns – nothing beats the original! Love the spice!
I LOVE the original but for something different the choc chip or choc orange are great. They all taste FANTASTIC warm!!!!
As a coffee geek, I love the Bakers Delight Mocha hot cross buns, and when toasted the flavours are enhanced and are especially good with butter and good espresso coffee.
I don’t like peel in hot cross buns but I really like choc chip hot cross buns, they are my favourite
Tradition – It has to be Tradition! I love the Bakers Delight Tradition of helping others and Traditional Hot Cross Buns with butter are still my favourite!
I forgot to say before that I like them toasted under the grill not just heated in the oven.
Nothing beats the original hot cross bun for me. Gorgeous spices and dried fruit, YUM! And who says you can only eat them at Easter time
)
I would have to say as chocolate and coffee addict that the mocha are my absolute favourite but in saying that all the flavours are delicious!!!
We love all flavours of the hot cross buns, but the favourite in our house are the chocolate chip ones. A real treat a easter time!!!!!

LOL…This pregnant lady has a craving for the fruit hot cross buns….I can’t eat enough of them….I like to munch on them during the day and love them toasted of an evening smothered in melted butter
CHOC CHIP hot cross buns, they are amazing warm. You have to be quick at my house to get one! Good work Bakers Delight.
Traditional Hot X Buns are the go…………. toasted with a little butter, with a nice hot cuppa for morning tea
I like fruitless best since i hate sultanas, but love the taste of the authentic hot cross bun, toasted with real butter, yum!! I think i need to go buy some now…..
Just LOVE Bakers Delight CHOC CHIP Hot Cross Buns…OMG they are so YUMMMMMMMY melt in your mouth moment of pure DELIGHT! If I could buy them all year round I would be even happier! You have made me a very happy girl every Easter season! I start asking in your stores start of Feb to see if they are out yet! Can never get enough….addicitive!
Has to be original. Can’t beat them and always from Bakers Delight.
My favourite is definately the Choc Chip – I love to warm them up and have the choc chips melted through. YUMMO!

or fresh & soft with loads of butter
Easter is a special time of year and it’s the bakers job to make it even more special with hot cross buns. Such great tradition.
Traditional are always the best. The fruity chunks are a delight!!!!

There is nothing like a Bakers Delight Hot Cross bun toasted on an open fire in the middle of the Aussie Bush…………..yummmmmmmmm
I love the Traditional Bakers Delight hot cross buns. They’re fruity, spicy and totally delicious served toasted with lashings of butter.
Choc chip definately my favourite, but always have some fruitless on hand for my 6 y.o. grandson who picks the fruit out of everything!!!!!!!!!!!
ANY Baker’s Delight hot cross bun is my favorite!
I just love the traditional fruit ones. They are lovely toasty warm with a bit of butter for that easter indulgence
My favourite Hot Cross buns are the Chocolate ones… cut them in half and spread a little butter on them, pop them in the microwave, and share them with friends and family. It’s like they’ve combined Easter Eggs and Hot Cross Buns, two of my favourite things!
Definitely choc chip – warm up the buns and the aroma is irresistible .
Fruit hot cross buns, either warmed or toasted, are the best by far !
I just love the traditional hot cross buns warmed just a little with butter, they are just devine.
Well I like the chocolate ones, they are my favorite.
love the mocha chocolate and coffee does’nt ger any better, goes great with a cappuccino
I love Traditional the best. I could seriously live 100% on Bakers Delight, I love everything! is there a reverse Atkins diet where you only eat carbs? If there is, sign me up!!!
I’m a Traditional kind of girl, served with a hot cup of Tea.
Choc Chip FTW!!!
How can anyone go passed a Traditional Hot Cross Bun?!
I just cut mine in half and pop them in the toaster for a really quick breakfast!!
Even the kids love them (even with fruit), and the whole thing gets eaten, unlike toast where all the crusts (and half the bread) gets left behind!
Oops, noticed I had to leave full name (my comment is above)…
I love Choc Chip but the Traditional variety is definitely my favourite. They invoke childhood memories of Easter with my family. Snuggling up to a warm fire & toasting the buns, then spreading fresh butter on them. Yum!
CHOC CHIP and/or MOCHA
…not much beats chocolate and coffee… YUMMY
love the fruitless and the choc ones are not far behind.
Absolutely adore the traditional hot cross buns. Can’t beat them with lashings of real butter and a good coffee. Heavenly indulgence!

Chocolate chip!!!
Traditional, i love the spicy mixed up with fruit, its like a christmas pudding at Easter.
original, only ever original…..
i’m almost afraid to say ‘we are traditionalists in our home’. don’t care how they come, with or without butter, toasted or untoasted, hot or cold, as long as they’re baker’s delight traditional hot cross buns. yum!!!!!!!!!
i love traditional – fresh, hot and yummy. drooling just thinking about them………….
The traditional hotties rock!!
I so love traditional buns that are warmed with butter- sheer heaven.
Easter is traditional, and by happy coincidence, the traditional hot cross buns have been, still are, and will continue to be THE BEST! Just love them
I love to eat Bakers Delight Chocolate Chip Hot Cross Buns fresh and warm,
Even if it means getting up at the crack of dawn.
I love traditional! Halved, toasted, buttered, for breakfast, with a cup of tea… YUM!

Traditional, toasted with butter…yum, my mouth is watering!
The Chocolate chip ones dont even make it in the front door in our home, they are eaten in the car on the way home after shopping. Gott be quick
Traditional! I dont even need to warm them up when they are fresh from the store! Or if i’m feeling really naughty or just need cheering up – choc-chip with nutella or peanut butter – or both! And the fact that I can only have this special treat once a year makes them almost guilt free…almost…..
Hi,my girls and I love the choc chip hot cross buns yum yum yum : )
