From office space to a great partnership

Around 14,000 Australian women are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in 2010.
To be a part of a franchise network that plays a part in supporting women with breast cancer through our partnership with Breast Cancer Network Australia, is incredibly rewarding. And all thanks to 630 bakeries, 15,000 bakery staff and our friends at BCNA who do amazing work.
How did this come to be? It all started ten years ago with a friendship between co-founder and CEO Lesley Gillespie and CEO of BCNA Lyn Swinburne. Lyn needed office space and Lesley offered to help out. And the rest is history.
Would you believe it was only 5 years ago that the network had raised $750k for BCNA, reaching $4.5 million in 2010? And it’s all thanks to our bakeries who go all out each year conducting the annual pink bun fundraising campaign with 100 per cent of the sale of pink buns going directly to support women and their families affected by breast cancer.
Check out some of the pictures here of our franchisees doing great work.

How does your local bakery support BCNA? Any more ideas on how Bakers Delight can support BCNA?
